Same Side Of The Moon - Corrinne May

I'm looking out the window
Where we sat to watch the stars
There's a chill within the air
It makes my heart long for your touch
You may be miles away
But as I kneel to pray

I see the same side of the moon
That we'll be looking on when the world turns blue
And know that time and space
can't come between me and you
We share the same side of the moon
And though you'll never see all my tears shine through
I know I can't be that far from you
If we're both looking on the same side of the moon.

I picture you across the oceans
In your corner of the world
I pray the wind will blow my voice
And gently whisper in your ear
Your night may be my day
And though the seasons change

It's still the same side of the moon
That we'll be looking on when the world turns blue
And know that time and space
can't come between me and you
We share the same side of the moon
And though you'll never see all my tears shine through
I know I can't be that far from you
If we're both looking on the same side of the moon
I know I can't be that far from you
If we're both looking on the same side of the moon...

My Books!

Ok here goes....

These are the books that I've read recently..

And i'm currently reading these two....haha of course i'm taking forever with the Melayu book....somehow I have to really concentrate when i'm reading that...but it is a challenge..and I will finish it...just like that other book...which you SHOULD start on Nene. :p

And these are the books that I just got and have yet to read...hehe somehow I tend to save the Kinsella books...cause those are the best! :D

Oh and this one....haha chick lit in Dutch...It might take me a couple of years I think :p

PS: Arnee what are you reading these days?

PPS: Mel thanks for recommending 'Can you keep a secret'. Heheh...now all 3 of us have read it! OMG...that part about the girl meeting the old guy....at the day care centre...and lunch for 2pounds!..heheh damnnn that was really hilarious! I simply couldn't stop laughing :D Any other books to share?

PPPS: Nene how's your Marian Keyes doing? i'm almost done with part one....I'm really envious about her job!!!...ohh..and I can't imagine what Luke looks like ;)

Books

I've been so lazy to blog! Haven't really done much. Well actually I've been doing a lot of stuff but nothing really interestsing or blog material. Mostly worked a lot, went to some courses, started going for aerobics classes. Ohh the aerobics is really fun. Girls, you'd love the latin and funk classes. I get so inspired and prance around and pretend I'm a pussycat doll (I don't need a man to make it happen!) :)

So anyways Arlin I finally started reading Sophie Kinsella's 'Can you keep a secret' this morning and you're right it's hilarious. I laughed out loud a couple of times already. God she's so damn embarrassing. But I'm scared of reading it too fast and finishing the whole thing so I'm trying to pace myself and savour the book so it lasts a while.

The other books in line after Sophie Kinsella. Sorry girl, I'm gonna put off reading 'Merpati Putih Terbang Lagi' for a little while longer...

What's everyone reading these days?

Molten Chocolate Cake

We've made this cake quite a few times now eversince we watched this cooking proggy on the bbc...some faggy guy made the cake...I don't recall his name...anyway its pretty easy to make...and REALLY yummy too! I think everyone should try it! :)

Mmmm...we used extra dark chocolate for this one...it was really nice and rich.

Nene do you still want the recipe for this?

Ingredients

50g/1¾oz unsalted butter, plus more for greasing

unsweetened cocoa powder, for dusting

50g/1¾oz dark chocolate, chopped

1 free-range egg

1 free-range egg yolk

1½ tbsp caster sugar

1 tsp plain flour

To serve: créme fraîche

1. Preheat the oven to 220C/425F/Gas 7.

2. Butter two 250ml/9fl oz ovenproof ramekins and dust with cocoa powder, shaking out any excess.

3. Melt the chocolate and butter together in a bowl over a pan of gently simmering water.

4. Beat the egg, egg yolk and sugar with an electric whisk until pale and thick.

5. Pour the melted chocolate into the egg mixture. Sift in the flour and gently fold in.

6. Spoon the mixture into the ramekins and bake for ten minutes.

7. Serve either in the ramekins or turned out onto serving plates.

Dust with cocoa powder and serve with créme fraîche.

Budapest

We were also in Budapest last week for a few days and it was cold and snowy. I walked around by myself quite a bit and took some pics.

I ended up at the Fashion Street of course...where I got myself two pairs of shoes and a top from Zara...yeah they have Zara too! :D

Then I had lunch by myself at this place called Cyrano...cause the concierge guy recommended it...bah...penipu.

I think this is Váci or something like that....macam their Orchard Road.

Then I saw this souvenir store and went in and got some rubbish touristy crap.

And I also got some postcards here.

Statue of some girl...

Apparently its a little king girl..hm.

The riverbank of the Danube on the Pest side looking towards the Buda side.

About Budapest.

The Hungarian tram?

Chain Bridge.

St. Stephen's Basilica

Me.

The hotel corridor. Nice carpet eh?

We also got some Hungarian paprika..and the thing on the tube says 'red gold'. Haven't tried it yet though.

And obviously we had to go the supermarket too...cause everyone knows by now what a sucker I am for supermarkets :p...and I got some rubbish...this bear cake-like thing...and also this chocolate wafer...which is named after the Lake Balaton.

The cake was actually quite nyum-nyum...there was chocolate in the centre. :) Damn...should've got more of those things.

A random building.

This is apparently a famous Hungarian scientist.
One of my favourite Hungarian words...Cipő!!!!! :D

Oklah...i'm lazy to upload more pics...oh yeah I also tried some Hungarian food....like goulash and some chicken paprikash but we didn't take pics unfortunately.

Igen... nem... Szeretlek..szeretünk..kisbaba...nevem palacsinta... csók sok sok...ölelet...bolondocskám..famoushhh....szia drága! :D

Selamat Makan?

Hehe it was really weird that they kept saying that the whole time in Bali...like each time we had dinner or drinks the staff would say Selamat Makan/Selamat Minum...it sounded pretty strange especially cause we never say that...i'm more used to jemput or sila makan/minum....hehe anyway....we had some nice Indo food there...so I have to blog about it as usual.

We really liked the satay...it was very good...and the little grill that came with it was so cute!

I had rice and urab and sambal etc with the satay.

I think this was a chocolate souffle with ice cream and a pot of chocolate sauce.

Some kinda chocolate tart?

We had more satay here...some kinda tuna salad and chicken curry and fried eggplant with sambal! Hehe..Mel I like eggplant now thanks to you :) Oh and we also had cabe rawit of course..with just about everything!

Afternoon tea outside the library...these ladies would serve local kuihs and tea.

We had macam ondeh-ondeh and ginger tea.

And on another afternoon I had something that resembled a goreng pisang...except they wrapped the banana with some sorta pastry instead of coating it in batter...it was still good though.

Enjoying afternoon tea.

This sweet little girl came up to me when I was having tea and presented me with some flowers...macam local potpourri-like thing she made...come to think of it..it was kinda like bunga rampai.

Oh there was also a palm sugar demonstration by an ibu from the village...she was kinda paiseh when I took this pic of her....and the old guy reminded me of Yayi...:)

Thanks Mummy for the floral caftan! :))

Snorkeling and Cruising.

We also went snorkeling in Bali and that was just as fun. I've never done that before so it was quite an experience...there were lots of tiny fishies and I saw an eel and a sting ray too!

Feet.

After the snorkeling we had lunch on the boat thing..well apparently its an outrigger styled along the lines of a Jukung, the traditional Balinese fishing craft.

And after lunch we went on the upper deck of the boat and they took us on a little tour of the area.

It was extremely windy too...oh yeah...and that's our resort in the background.

View of Amankila from the sea.

View of the whole resort and the beach.

Ugh...macam bear gemuk.

Trekking - Gumang Hill

We signed up for some activities during our stay cause we thought it'd be good for us to be active and healthy..haha :p We decided to go on the shortest trekking excursion which took about an hour...I think we started at Gumang Hill which is northeast of Candi Dasa.

On the way to the hill

That's me...walking up. And the guy on the right was our guide.

The walk up-hill was extremely exhausting!

But I actually managed to go all the way up and we saw some temples and lots of monkeys! Yay!

Hehe...cute eh the monkey?

Lovely view.

I think we also saw Mount Agung at one point.

More monkeys.

Going down was a whole lot easier. Phew.

Haha. :D

The Beach

We spent quite a bit of time at the beach in Bali.....it was really nice and the currents were pretty strong and I got quite a tan too...

Walking to the beach.

The beach

There were these bales at the beach and it was fun cause we had to do the whole ritual of washing our feet before going up..heheh macam main rumah rumah...

Very kampung eh?

I liked the sunscreen lotion...they were all natural products!

Mmm...refreshing coconut juice.

Me.

Haha...this reminded me of Baywatch.

I spent my Christmas eve alone on a plane basically...so I didn't really celebrate or anything...in fact I didn't even receive a SINGLE Christmas gift this year...bleh. :( Anyway we did some shopping before Christmas...and all the malls and shopping places were extremely busy...and there were a lot of performers etc.

Old matsalehs singing carols.

Some kinda band.

Tiny Dutch pancakes. Yum.

Then there were also all these Christmas events going on at our little kampung...heheh..all of a sudden it was all happening around here....there were people doing some ice sculptures and ada horsies too!

I liked the angel. Cantik.

Too bad the ride was just for kids :p

Ok this is a bit lambat I know...but I really haven't had time to upload pics and stuff. I spent Hari Raya Haji at Rosli's place at Ijburg or something this year. He has an amazing apartment...hehe it was all white...Mama mesti suka. Really reminded me of a club...almost like the daybed bar! :)

Syed and Rosli made lots of food...hehe like rendang, and sambal goreng and ketupat and lodeh and ayam and all sorts of stuff. It was really yummy.

Me and Syed wearing the baju and posing with Rosli's Christmas tree :p...heh thanks to him I wore the kebaya and almost froze to death.

Oh and I also made some kuih tart from scratch for Hari Raya....yes..even the filling....peh leceh!! Argh!!

New Year's in Stockholm
I spent all of last week in Stockholm with Mastura and family and had a really great time! She has two sons, Takichan and Haydar (hope I spelled their names right!) and they're so adorable! Taki is 2.5 and Haydar's a year younger. Here they are:

Mastura cooked up a storm while I was there and we had all kinds of Malay food including nasi ayam, mee goreng, tomyam, kari ayam, rendang and sambal goreng udang (yes exactly like Hari Raya!). And I also got to try some interesting Turkish dishes that she made for her husband Fevzi and that his mom made on New Year's Eve.

Ohh and Mastura and I went crazy shopping cause everything was on sale! Arlin I bought another Zara jacket! And tons of things at Gina Tricot and H&M and stuff. And 3 pairs of shoes!! We just kept buying things and loading all our shopping bags at the back of the baby carriages. :)

Here are pics of the two boys that I'm so in love with. Aww I miss them so much. I really miss those mornings when Taki would knock on my door and say Cik Nene Cik Nene Cik Nene!
They just love taking baths
Taki with his Spiderman hat on the subway
Haydar and mommy Mastura
The boys eating chips
At DeliBurger in downtown Stockholm
All dressed up on New Year's Eve to go to their grandparents
It was really hard trying to get them to stay still for these pictures!
Taki posing really nice in his shirt and Spiderman tie!
The cat Nur that reminded me of my Aslan. She was so cute and cuddly.
And here's Taki again because he just loves playing with the camera. I still hear his voice saying "senyum, senyum" (smile, smile) before taking a picture :)
Thank you again Mastura for letting me spend time with you and the boys and the cat. I had a really great time and hope to see all of you again soon!

My Christmas

Well this feels like ages ago now but I'll blog about it anyway. I actually had a really nice Christmas this year. First of all I got some really nice gifts!

This was the first gift I got and it was from Hathairat. It was so pretty! And yummy too. Beautiful chocolate roses.

And these are some of the gifts I got for people.

I was also invited to this julbord thingy at one of my schools..Christmas table's the direct translation. It's basically this buffet with Swedish Christmasy food. Here's the pre-lunch entertainment with the teachers singing Christmas carols.

And then I went to visit Maryam after the Christmas buffet and found Santa's little helper :) Doesn't she look adorable?

I spent Christmas Eve with Lasse and Eva and family. Here we are at Henrik and Snezana's. They were really sweet to have invited me and I had a really great time. I can't believe they got me gifts too! That's Vincent and Casper with their Christmas gifts which they were really excited about. And Lasse's also opening his present.

Thank you again Lasse & Eva and family for having me over!

Back with a vengeance!
First up HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone! Selamat Tahun Baru! Gott Nytt År! I can't believe a whole year has gone by. Time really just flies doesn't it?
So I have tons to blog about that I haven't gotten round to in ages. So first up I think there's some leftover stuff from the Tallinn trip.
I haven't written at all about the cruise I think so here are some pictures taken while we were on board the ship.
A view from our cabin. This was on the hmm ooh I don't remember the name of the ship but we were on our way to Tallinn then. The MS Victoria? Or something? Or the Romantica?
We went to this cabaret show on the ship and it was actually pretty good.
And I had to have this drink just because it came with a neon glo-stick! It's called the polar bear or something like that.
And here I am posing like a retard with my glow stick bracelet. Yay!
